Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist

Dr. Bria Adimora Godley is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in psychotherapy and medication management. She has expertise in treating patients with mood disorders, anxiety and ADHD. She works with teenagers, university students, and professionals in demanding careers. She has a particular focus on the challenges of young adult life, including trauma, racial stress, perfectionism, alienation and loneliness. Her approach is integrative and collaborative; she uses a combination of lifestyle interventions, psychotherapy, and medication to increase her patients' capacity to experience peace and joy.

Dr. Godley grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She attended Yale University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with distinction. Funded by the Cohen Public Service Fellowship, she spent one year writing about race relations in the United States. Dr. Godley received her medical degree from University of North Carolina School of Medicine. In medical school she continued to write about race, publishing articles on racial justice, structural violence, and racial health disparities.

Dr. Godley completed her psychiatry residency at Yale University, where she focused on psychodynamic psychotherapy and community mental health. She is currently pursuing advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy training at Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. She is licensed in New York and Connecticut.
